Good Grief

Life changes fast. Life changes in the instant.
For a couple of years, I'd been meaning to read The Year of Magical Thinking, Joan Didion's memoir of coping with her husband's sudden death and her daughter's serious, mysterious illness. We listened to the audiobook on our recent road trip and really enjoyed it. Lots of detail and repetition, which wouldn't appeal to everyone, but it worked for me.

More here.

I too enjoyed this as an audio book. Despite the sadness, there was never any doubt that she lived her life in the way she wished.

I read it when it came out and was depressed beyond belief and wonder why her daughter had such a funny name.

I enjoyed the book and saw a one woman show at the Studio Theater. The book was enough.

God I loved that book. And the quotation you named here is the kicker. As it were.
