A friend sent me this (nonscientific) list of the 10 stupidest dog breeds -- after making sure it didn't include whippets or Italian greyhounds. He needn't have worried; we harbor no illusions about their intellectual prowess. I was therefore not surprised to find them among the 10 smartest.
As for cats, research published this week shows what we knew all along -- that they're calling the shots:
